The four "W"-Questions
Who:
Candida (33-years-old) who is married to Morell
Priest James Morell who loves his wife endlessly, she is the most important
person in his life
Poet Eugene Marchbank (18-years-old) who is also in love with Candida
When:
The story takes place at the end of the 19th century
The play Candida was written in 1895
Where:
The story takes place in Morell’s house
What:
Morell and Marchbank argue who is the "right" husband for Candida who
can fullfill her expectations
They want Candida to choose one of them
Both try to convince Candida that he is the right one
In the end Candida decides to stay with her weak husband because he
needs her so much that he cannot live without her
Marchbank is very disappointed and leaves the house
