Morell: strength , honesty, ability and industry, authority and position
He bids for her defence , surety, livelihood, dignity

Marchbanks: weakness, desolation, heart’s need

How they really are:

Morell: not so strong, only appears to be strong, weak and vulnerable underneath

Marchbanks: on the surface: weak, pitiable, needs Candida most, strong and confident
