    The four "W" - questions on "Ponyboy" by S. E. Hinton

    The story is an excerpt from the novel "The Outsiders". It's about US teenage gangs, made into a popular film in 1983

    When ?

    During the late 1960´s.

    Where ?

    The story takes place on the streets in a rather poor East Side suburb somewhere in the United States.

    Who ?

    A bunch of gang kids who grow up together in a bad area. They are all between the age of fourteen and twenty.

    What ?

    The youngest member of this gang, Ponyboy, describes his life and the special relationships he has to all of his friends and his two brothers, Darry and Soda. He seems to be a lot different to the others and one day he gets beaten up by a rival gang after coming out of the cinema and walking home on his own, but his friends are able to reach the scene where it happens in time to save him.
